I am continually attracted to the natural shapes of still life elements. There is a challenge in presenting fruits and vegetables, flowers, simple pottery and the crystal quality of glass in a new way. I love to explore light and shadow, the color changes and solidity of fruits and vegetables, the softness of flowers, the shape and textural differences of pottery and the reflections of glass on the folds of fabric. I have also taken the same still life and produced it as a monotype and I find that to be very exciting! Very interesting things happen on the press and I love the results!

I am known for my florals and still lifes. My still life paintings often begin with organic elements to which I add treasures from my collection of glass pottery , lace and fabric. I am attracted to the natural shapes of still life elements. A theme emerges as I progress and the arrangement takes on a life of its own suggesting new shapes , colors and juxtapositions. It will create a feeling , a memory and lead me to another idea for my next painting.

I grew up on Cape Cod when the towns were quiet and there was not any traffic! After graduating from college I married Joe and we raised eight children. I was always interested in the arts especially drawing and painting. While the children were small, I didn't have much time for painting. My other love is sewing so I spent time doing that as I could do that quickly when I had some time. As the children grew older I could took some watercolor courses to explore different techniques. Now I could spend more time painting. My goal was to get enough work together so I could enter a few competitions and become a member of the New England Watercolor Society.
